Basic Life Support (BLS)

CPR and First Aid Training in the Chicagoland area.

The American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) course trains healthcare providers to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation, and provide early use of an AED.

Course Content:

  • Key changes in basic cardiovascular life support reflecting the the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Emphasis on high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • Includes coverage of other life saving interventions, such as rescue breathing, relief of choking (conscious and unconscious individual), naloxone administration, and activation of the emergency response system

In this American Heart Association BLS course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations guided by our instructors and complete a written exam. A passing score of 84% or better is required before your card can be issued.
