Heartsaver CPR/AED

Teaches participants how to use an AED and relieve choking. Designed for lay-rescuers expected to respond to workplace emergencies.

Lay Rescuer
Details

Heartsaver CPR/AED training teaches participants how to use an external defibrillator (AED) and how to relieve someone who is choking for those expected to respond to workplace emergencies without medical training.

Specifically designed for those required to obtain a course completion card documenting completion of a CPR and AED course for workplace or regulatory (e.g., OSHA) compliance.

Heartsaver First Aid

Teaches the public how to manage illness and injuries in the critical first few minutes before professional help arrives.

Lay Rescuer

The modules teach the public how to manage illness and injuries in the critical first few minutes before professional help arrives. Designed for lay rescuers who need training for workplace, regulatory, or personal preparedness.

These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting. Meets OSHA and other regulatory requirements.

Child Care CPR Training

Ideal for childcare providers, daycare centers, and babysitters. OSHA compliant, approved by federal, state, and municipal organizations.

Our AHA child care CPR training is ideal for all childcare providers, daycare centers, and babysitters. OSHA compliant and approved by federal, state, municipal and private organizations.

DCFS requires all Illinois child care providers serving low income families through CCAP to have CPR/First Aid certification.

We also offer additional on-site certifications including Bloodborne Pathogen training and First Aid/AED training.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Required for most healthcare professionals. The foundational CPR/AED program for healthcare providers and public safety professionals.

All our instructors are licensed firefighters, paramedics, nurses, and EMTs who utilize the concepts taught in class on a routine basis. They extend upon classroom knowledge by providing real-life experiences.

What is the difference between BLS and Heartsaver courses?
Basic Life Support (BLS) is for healthcare providers who work in a clinical setting. For lay-rescuers and those not in health-related fields, the Heartsaver course is appropriate.
Are you an authorized AHA Training Site? +
Yes, we are an authorized American Heart Association Training Site. The CPR training certification card you receive will be from the American Heart Association.
Is there a minimum class size? +
No. We can and will teach classes for any number of students. Contact us for details.
Do I need to purchase textbooks? +
Books are required for healthcare providers taking professional level CPR training. Textbooks can be purchased through Save-A-Life, Inc. or at Shopcpr.heart.org.
Do you offer online or blended learning? +
Yes, we offer AHA online courses with in-person skills testing. Students complete coursework online at their own pace, then do a hands-on skills test with Save-A-Life, Inc. to receive an AHA certification card.
What space is needed for training? +
A space large enough to comfortably seat students and for the instructor to present material. Instruction is media-based with skills practice on manikins.
